Basic Punching Technique – Place the punch on a
sturdy table and stand over the punch. Using the heel of your hand,
press the punch down firmly and slowly.
Paper Weight Recommendation – Usually 60# cardstock
or lighter weight paper will work best. You will want a variety of
papers to choose from in your scrapbooking supplies.
Aligning Repeating Border Designs – Try using the
punch upside down as you will be better able to visibly monitor the
design.
Punching One Shape Inside Another – To punch a
small shape inside of a larger punches shape, punch the small shape
first. Turn the large punch upside down and align the small shape
inside the larger one. Be sure to punch using the heel of your hand.
Clearing Paper Jams – If a punch becomes jammed
with a sheet of scrapbooking supplies paper inside it, place the punch
with paper in the freezer for 10 to 20 minutes. The metal should
contract, allowing the punch to release the paper without damaging it.
Punching Delicate Materials – Place cardstock under
delicate handmade paper or tissue paper to obtain a clean cut. You can
punch several very thin shapes at one time.
Additional Care Tips – Store your scrapbooking
supplies punches away from heat or moisture. For best results, do not
force your punch through thick, dense materials. Most punches will
easily punch through paper and cardstock, stencil plastic, paper bags,
sheet protectors, vellum, handmade paper, thin craft foam, corrugated
paper, and some VERY thin metals.
